- Primary Health Sub -Centre, Nidhal : The Construction of primary health sub- centre building was completed in 1994. There are two servants of which one position is Arogya Sevika by name smt M. S. Jadhav & Other one Arogya Sevak by name Shri Chougule .

: Construction of building was completed in 1999. There are two servants -one is live stock Supervisor by name Shri.T.B. Khade & Other is Peon Shri Padavale.
- Telephone Exchange , Nidhal
: Telephone Exchange of CDOT type was installed & commissioned in June 1999 at Nidhal Village. The number of Customers in this Exchange are 200, Connected with modern type of Optical Fiber Link & due to Optical fiber media, communication with entire world has become very fast and also successfully entered in the world of Cyberspace (Internet). One Telecom Staff looks after its functioning by name is Shri. Karne (Telephone Mechanic).

13. Industries in the village Nidhal ;
1.Agriculture:
Major occupation in the Village is agricultural enterprises. This is performed by 400 Farmers. The Village being in drought prone area of the state, the major farming is of dry farming in the nature & as per revenue assessment, the village is declared as Kharif village where the farmers produce Kharif crops like pearl millet, mug, a few acreage of seasonally irrigated by use of dug wells. The major irrigated crops grown are Rabbi Jawar, wheat, onion, potato etc. The village farming as such depends upon rainfall of nature. Periodically at an interval of 3 years and 10 years, the villagers face famine conditions. Hence the farm production is not stable in nature. Hence over 550 individuals had to migrate for search of employment in the state as well as all over India. Out of them over 400 individuals are employed in metropolitan cities like Mumbai which is the major trade center of the country.
2.Carpentary:
In the Village Nidhal,there are 4 families of carpenter who are engaged in repairs and production for furniture and building materials like doors, windows etc.
3.Black smithy:
There are 3 people who are engaged in smithy of local tools like phawade, pickaxe, crow bar and their repairs. The smithy families also help in construction houses by fixing iron sheets. iron girdles etc.
4. Gold smithy:
One person in the village known as Goldsmith repairs ornaments of the villagers.
5. Potmaking :
There are 4 families of pot makers known as Kumbhar who prepares earthen pots of different nature and prepares idols of Lord Ganesh, Gauri and bullocks at the time of respective festivals.
6.Rope and broom makers :
There are 10 Matang families engaged in rope making , brooms & brushes from agave & ambadi strings.
7. Sheep Keeping :
In the village there are 20 families who are sheepkeepers .
8. Dairy Enterprises;
There are over 100 families engaged in dairy enterprises. They collect milk from cows, buffaloes, goat etc for sale & domestic use.
9. Other Enterprises of the village:
There are 3 shoe makers (Charmkar known as Chambhar), 5 barber Shops (saloons) , 15 tailoring firms, 5 washerman shops, one screen printing shop, 5 public address systems , 3 brass bands, two video shooting units, two photography studios, 2 LOCAL/STD/ISD Public Telephone call offices, 3 priests, 2 Radio repair shops , 2 watch makers, 4 fabrications units, 3 matton shops, 2 bread making units, 10 building painters, 5 cycle repairing shops , 5 flour mills , 5 Hallers & winowing units , 10 tractors ,1 tractor & motorcycles repairs shop ,4 dug well construction units, 5 cooks , 2 Gondhali’s, 1 preparation of leaf dish - cup unit , 3 stove repair units and 1 Loknatya mandal .

Most of the villagers keep small poultry units.

shed, Rs 9500=00 for repairs of electric motor & Rs 16341=00
for purchase of spares for system.
The maintenance work of the scheme was looked after by the
workers of village panchayat,Nidhal as well as from outsides in
respect electric motor.
Whether training of maintenance of scheme has be given to local persons ? YES . Shri Jadhav Subhash, Shri Pawar Shrirang, Shri Ghodke Baban were trained in removing water pipe leakage, Volve leakage, installation of new pipe line and repairs of stand posts.
15. Information on water resources :
A water tank of 1 lakh liter water capacity was constructed in the village location known as "Gavthan". Another water tanks of 10 thousand liter capacity each were installed at Village hamlets namely Thombarewadi and Mayakkanagar. At Dalvi vasti the tanks containing 5 thousand liter water capacity was installed and 6.5 thousand liter capacity tank was installed at Bormala location under the scheme of GSR.
Time required to fill the tank with water ; Main tank needs 5 hours to fill it.
Availability of water/person : Always 40 liters / person .However during summer days 15 liters /individual water is provided. Hence rest of quantity of water is supplied by tankers with effect from 05.04.2001.Prior to this day during summer days, 30 liters/person was provided. This is the first year when water was supplied through tanker.
Provide information during last two years i.e. 1998-1999 and 1999-2000. During 1998-1999, the water was supplied through tanker at Ramoshi Vasti for 2 months period.
Whether water treatment plant is installed ? No.
16. Provision of Water Stand posts
How many times repairs of leakage in water pipe was under taken during the year 1999-2000? --- Only once in a year.
Who had removed the leakages of water of the village?--

- How the test is performed? -By collecting water samples from stand posts, wells, private taps & its testing was done in dispensary laboratory.
- Which chemical is used for purification of water ? T.C.L. powder purchased from M/S OM Vikram Co.
- Proportion of chemical used ? ---- 1 Kg per day
- Location of the chemical storage : At the water pump shed.
- Adoption of personal water treatment method ? By use of mediclore liquid and by using cloth filter at tap flow.
- Whether water was chemically tested ? Yes
8. If Yes what were the results ? -- Water was not polluted and was fit
for drinking.
- Method adopted for water purification : TCL powder @ 1kg/day is well mixed the main water tank.
19. Method of storing the TCL powder.
- Use of TCL is regular/otherwise ?--- Regular.
- Who supervises the process ? Health worker & Gramsevak.
- How much storage of TCL has been made ? -For 3 months period of 150 Kg TCL powder.
20. Contagious diseases :

- 6. What care is taken to control the contagious diseases :
- a. Drained water used by personally and by community is flowed in drained pipe line and percolation tank and such water is used for irrigating the crops/ plants wherever feasible.
- b.The village wastage is stored in Nadhef pits located outside village after its collection on daily basis.
- c. Regular water purification treatment is followed for drinking water.
- d. Drinking water at house hold levels is handled carefully.
21. Latrines :
1.No of latrines constructed in the village : 161 . Out of these 89 are
of personal and 72 are of community nature.

3.What facilities are provided for such families?
- Their community latrines are located at 10 places in the periphery of the village locations where 45 latrines are used by the families who do not have their own latrines. Additionally there are 27 community latrines located at 3 wadies / vasties (hamlets of Nidhal). As such 72 community latrines are used by the families.
- There is a proposal to construct additional latrines at personal level and wherever now house is to be constructed in the village ,there is compulsion to construct the latrines in the premises of such new house.

5. Adoption method of maintenance of community latrines :
- Individuals using such latrines keep themselves clean.
- No of community latrines has been increased during compaign period .Hence village Panchayat has appointed wet-man w.e.f. 01/04/2001. He cleans once a day the community latrines in the village.
6. Who incurs the expenses ? Miscellaneous repair cost is being paid by
village Panchayat .
7. What is the source of water for latrines?
At each location of community latrines , there is small water tank connected with tap water. The tank water is used for the latrines.
8. How the waste drained water of latrines disposed off ?
In case of the community latrines , the seftic tank is constructed and wasted drained water is drained in percolation pit.
9. In construction of Govt. aided latrines whether there is misappropriation ? No
10. What remedial measures taken to overcome the problem of misappropriation ? There is no any misappropriation , hence the question of remedial measures does not arise.
11. What is percentage of latrines usage? -- 100% (Community and
personal latrines are used by the villagers.)
12. Percolation pits :
No of percolation pits : As per need,there are 105 percolation pits at different locations in the village.
Who has constructed these pits ? : The pits were constructed under the guidance of village cleanliness committee & by the owners of the houses by shramadan .
What material was used for these pits ? : Pieces of bricks, sand and stone pebbles.

Most of the drains were opened and constructed during the period of cleanliness campaign. Presently in the village there are 1648 community and 400 private and in all 2048 drains are existing.
2. Where the drained waste water was disposed off?
i. For farming : Based on nature topography of the village ,the drained water from 4 sides was collected at one place and used for farming on their farms whose farms were at low level. Presently during summer days the farms are irrigated by using this water. As a result these farms get irrigation during two seasons. The details are given in the table below.

- Percolation Pits
. : There are 105 pits where community drains are not available and/or located at distant places. The waste water is being percolated in these pits.
- Kitchen gardens : 36 householders used drained water for their kitchen gardens .
- Whether drained waste water is useful ? Yes. Such water was used by 4 farmers in their farms .
14. Solid Waste:
- How many solid waste Boxes are available in the village ? : In the different locations of the village, there are 55 solid waste pots/kundyas are kept .Of these 15 pots are of cement based where solid waste material is in bulk quantity. 40 pots are prepared of Bambu material for collecting waste material daily.
- Whose ownership of these pots is ? all the pots are owned by the village panchayat .
- How many pots are of community in nature ? All are considered as community pots.
- How many pots are owned by privately ? . In each house, the waste material is collected by their pots which is collected with the help of mobile van/tractor every day known as "Ghanta Gadi"
- Whether there is separate arrangement for collection of plastic bags ? Use of plastic is banned by the village panchayat. All the solid waste material is daily collected in the "Ghanta Gadi" and is carried outside of the village Gaonthan known as Disposal waste place Where plastic bags are banned ,there is no need of disposal of these bags.
- Whether the plastic is banned in the village ? Yes. In the beginning of saint Gadgebaba Cleanliness campaign , the committee banned the use of plastic material. For implementation of this ban , the following arrangement has been made.
- To provide understanding about bad effect of plastic.
- Instead of use of plastic , the use of paper and cloth bags was emphasized.
- In case of use of plastic bag by any villager, he is fired but more emphasize is laid to educate the people about non use of plastic .
- Traders were asked not to use plastic bags/ material .
- Use of plastic bag if practiced by a Trader ,People do not purchase household grocery from such Trader. "Gandhi Bandhu (Brothers)" is the major grocery shop owner in the village. In spite of periodical repeated instructions about non use of plastics to provide material to consumers , he use to violate the instructions given. The village cleanliness committee proposed the villagers /Customers not to purchase grocery from Gandhi’s shop. People followed the instructions .As a result after eight days the owner shri Subhash Gandhi prayed through excuse publicity to the villager stating that he should be excused and assured that he will not use plastic bags for giving grocery items. There after villagers started purchasing the material from his shop and ban by committee was withdrawn.
15. How the solid waste is disposed off ?
- The village panchayat has collected waste material by mobile van/ tractor (Ghanta Gadi ). Early in the morning between 7.30 to 8.30 a.m., the van takes round in the village to collect solid waste material. Collected waste at house hold is poured in Ghanta Gadi by the respective family members.
- Wherever required ,some families disposed off their solid waste in box kept at their nearby boxes.
- Ghanta Gadi carries waste material to the center of solid waste place outside the village . Collected waste material is then carried into compost pit.
- The families having animals use their waste material at manure pit owned by them located outside the village.
- 22 farmers use to prepare manure Nadeph method in Nadeph pots where there is proposal to produce Vermiculture.
16. How the waste material is collected : Same as item 15 above.
17. Whether some product is prepared from the solid waste ?
- Preparation of compost manure.
- Production of vermiculture by using Nadeph method (proposed ).
18. Whether there is fine for throwing waste material outside house ? There is no fine making system in the village for throwing away solid waste but families are given understanding about bad effect of such act. This approach was found long lasting rather than fine making.
19. Activities regarding supply of / distribution of water :

- Monthly meeting of water distribution committee is conducted on the issue of water distribution.
- The discussion regarding defect in scheme to over come the problem of the scheme.
- Through discussion equal distribution of water is planned and these are implemented accordingly.

20. Live Stock : Its cleanliness

No of live stock : Cows – 1047, She Buffaloes – 412, Goat – 615, Sheep – 928, Poultry Birds – 3922, Dogs – 264, Horses – 2, Donkeys – 15
During cleanliness compaign ,with personal and community cleanliness , due care is taken to kept cattle byres and animals clean.For this purpose clean byres competition was conducted , and clean live stock competition were conducted . Successful byres and clean live stock owners information is given below:

21. Use of cows / Buffalo dung :
Use of live stock dung is done in following way.
All farmers own manure pits and they used to put collected dung in their manure pits and the manure so prepared is applied to crop through soil application.
In the village there are 18 Bio-gas in condition . Concern farmers use the dung in their Bio-gas plant .
For Cleanliness such as pasting of house floor and yards ,the farmers make use of live stock dung.
Dung is also used for painting roads on festival occasions of the village like visits of cleanliness committees' etc.
22. Non traditional energy:
Simple chulas : there are in all 98 simple chulas in village.
Smokeless chulas : Prior to clean up compaign there were 118 families who were using smokeless chulas. Cleanliness campaign committee made an appeal to villagers to make use of smokeless chulas. In response to the appeal made by committee , presently there are 534 families make use of these smokeless chulas.
Gas cylinders : Use of Cow & Buffalo dung Cake ,agricultural waste, branches of trees etc were used as fire material .Wood material for fire needs to be less used in order to reduce air pollution & to keep sufficient quantities of wood for balancing the atmosphere. Also to keep women free from collecting fire wood, dung cakes etc , maximum families should make use Gas for cooking. The efforts to this objectives were made. As a result 118 families had natural Gas cylinders which contains Bharat Gas = 67, HP Gas= 21 and Reliance Gas =30.
Gobar Gas (Bio Gas) – Prior to clean cleanliness campaign , there were 36 bio gas plants.During the campaign period 7 bio gas plants were repaired and 29 bio gas plants were out of orders. Presently 18 bio gas plants are in operation.
Solar Cooker : Prior to cleanliness campaign , there was not a single solar cooker .However during the period of the campaign ,people were motivated. As a result 85 families purchased solar cookers and were using for cooking their food items.
Use of solar energy : Prior to cleanliness campaign the people were motivated to use solar lanterns. As a result 15 shop keepers started using the solar lanterns.
From where the fire wood made available ? : At the village , there were 7 fire wood shops. With increase in use of natural Gas & bio gas ,4 fire wood shops were closed. Due to operation of watershed development program, the use of axe was banned .As a result 3 fire wood shopkeepers use to bring fire wood from out side market for sale.
23. Family welfare :
No of families in the village : 652
No of couples : 567
Eligible couples for family planning operation --On 2/10/2000, there were 57 eligible couples .On March 2001,additional 13 eligible were available. Thus in total there were 70 couples eligible for operation in the village.
Operated couples : During the campaign period all the 70 eligible couples were operated for control of additional children. During 2000-2001 the target of family planning was 29. Comparatively all the couples being operated. The percentage was gone to the extend of 241%.

Proportion of child death : 3.4% per thousand .

24. Publicity in the village :
sayings in the village : There were different 50 sayings which were depicted at 400 different places in the village.
Information on poster etc : The posters on following subject were made available from publicity department of state/ central governments and were displayed at different places in the village. The subjects of poster were : Ban on alcohol consumption ,Tobacco & Gutkha ,ban on early marriage law. AIDS, habit control, child marriages, Saint Gadage Maharaj village cleanliness campaign etc.
UNICEF stating cleanliness importance and integrated child development scheme.
Additionally there were different banners, big posters displayed at main places of the village.
The news paper cuttings about cleanliness were kept in the office of the village Panchayat for same period.
25. Information on training sessions conducted in the village :
Information with method demonstration was arranged by the officials of Maharashtra Jeevan Pradhikaran .
Use of smokeless chula with demonstration was arranged.
Officials of Satara Zilla Parishad arranged the demonstration on use of solar energy.
A Shibir ( demonstration ) for usefulness of Bio- gas was arranged in the village.
Guidance about use of latrines and their cleanliness was provided.
How to handle drinking water and arrangement of house hold materials was narrated to the women (all family members)of the village .A special meeting of women was arranged in the village.
An exhibition on low cost technology of cleanliness was arranged.
How to take care and repair of water distribution systems was narrated through training meeting .
A Special session on water purification method were arranged.
